All correspondence concerning admission should be addressed to the Registrar of the Seminary. Within eight weeks of the term in which the applicant would like to start, applicants for all programs of study should furnish the following (all materials must be provided in English):
- The completed application form.
- A photograph taken within the previous two years.
- The non-refundable application fee.
- An account of the applicant's conversion.
- An account relating the basis for the applicant's desire to pursue seminary studies.
- References required for the desired program.
The Seminary will furnish the applicant with recommendation forms
which must be delivered to the applicant's recommenders. The recommender
will then complete and seal the form, which must then be sent
to the Seminary. These forms constitute a valuable and integral
part of the application evaluation.
- Official transcripts of all post-high school studies. Graduating seniors applying before the completion of their studies may have a transcript sent indicating their academic record to the point of application. The applicant may then be provisionally accepted (see Provisional acceptance). A second copy must be forwarded to the Seminary upon the granting of the degree. Note that an official transcript is a transcript sent directly from a previous school to CBTS. Transcripts provided by the applicant are not acceptable.
- Non-US citizens (non-resident aliens) applying under F-1 status may apply for degree programs only. Such applicants must supply additional materials. These additional materials, which must all be provided in English, include the following:
- a completed I-20 and Financial Information Form providing necessary details related to their international enrollment in summary fashion;
- completed I-134 forms for all sponsors with accompanying documentation and/or any bank statements in the applicant's name from the previous six months;
- all previous I-20s;
- for the applicant and any dependent, clear photocopies of all I-94s, passports, and visas; and
- TOEFL score (applicants who have completed a previous degree in an English-speaking country may indicate their desire to apply without completing the TOEFL, although the seminary may still request a passing TOEFL score; see "TOEFL scores," below).
No applicant will be fully accepted until all of the above materials are received. Applicants who have outstanding transcripts or references may be admitted under provisional admission status (see Provisional acceptance).
No application materials will be returned or transferred to another institution. If the application is submitted less than six weeks prior to scheduled classes, a letter of temporary acceptance may be sent before the receipt of all materials.
You may request further information or an application form using our online information form. Applicants may also e-mail for information or write to the Registrar, Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary, 1380 S. Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA 19446. The Seminary's phone number is (215) 368-7538.
TOEFL scores are required for each applicant whose first language is a language other than English. If the applicant has completed a post-secondary degree in an English-speaking institution, the Admissions Committee may choose to waive the TOEFL requirement. All degree programs at Calvary require that applicants taking the TOEFL achieve a minimum score
a minimum score of 85 iBT, with a minimum of 18 in each section, 213 computer-based or 550 paper-based. Applicants are responsible for making their own arrangements for this examination by contacting the Educational Testing Service, Box 955, Princeton, NJ 08540, (877) 863-3546. Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary's code number with Educational Testing Service is #2153. Educational Testing Service should send the results directly to the Seminary; scores will not be accepted from the applicant's hand.
